| Day 25, and only one day off!! |

| [ | mood |
| | bouncy | ] | Well I am still here at Ft. Dix and it has still not lived up to being as bad as i thought it was going to be. The day of M-240 Qualifications (ground Qual) was a very interesting day. It started off me being at Lake Hurst keeping up on some aircraft maintenance so that we could get some flyables when right at lunch....heh of course when we least expected it, we had to pick up and go 40 minutes back to Ft. Dix and directly to the ranges. Me and a couple of other guys didn't have enought time to get our battle rattle so we had to stay back by the clam shell building while most of our unit and the other units fired. When qualifications commensed it was fairly miserable out, and those reading this who have been to a dry sandy/dusty firing range in the prone position know what i'm talking about. It hadden't rained for about 2 weeks straight and the plants were showing signs of parchedness. As the firing began of the other units Tracer rounds would smack the ground and riciche to the far boundaries of the range causing the brush to be ingulfed in flames. Since we were using crappy 25 meter zeroing targets the plack boards were torn apart and it didn't slow down the bullets one bit. Fires were starting every where and about an hour later it was my turn. Except i had to borrow someone elses kevelar which was tiny as hell and try to find my sweet spot on the 240 range while the smoke from the fire and the dust from the sand formed a cloud which barried the targets. Also breating that crap in sucked too. Anyway, the humorous thing was they actually continued the range when the brush that was about 30 meters out was burning like a forest fire. All day my friends and I kept spouting out "Real life trainning Huah!" (jokingly of course) and than acting like immature soldiers kind of what we do best *grins*.
Just for the record if there wasn't a sense of immaturity occaisionally while being safe I think a soldier would go insane before they deploy. Which is why i'm glad i'm here with a good group. Anyway Jen Is standing her ground strong and taking care of everything at the homestead. Sometimes just hearing the sound of her laugh makes a cold day warm. She has been going through alot of issues that i couldn't finish taking care of before i left like cough cough...(selling my car, getting a loan approval, making a budget, and well taking care of the house) oh yea and Jeanne helps ....sometimes :P...HA! Just kidding Jeanne I wouldn't dime ya out like that *grins* She also helps Jen stay sane so I have to give her some props.
Ariel Gunnery, now that was fun. I dunno there is just something about flying at 80 knots and banking on turns at 70 deg with a butterfly trigger on a mounted m-240 during the day and even better with tracer rounds at night with nvg's. Phew i have to shift in my seat just thinking about it...Heh..*red faced* sorry i didn't mean to type that. Anyway we flew down to AP hill virginia to use their aerial gunnery range there. it was a 3 day exercise and we had a blast... heh litterally. I know I sound really cheesy right now but it's because i'm on my 4th can of coke and it is 9:23pm after working from 7am to 7pm on broken hecaters. Anyway I probably won't get this chance to do alot of these things by the time i'mm older so it is kinda cool i get to do them now.
Well since i'm getting tired of typing and i have no patience what soo ever I shall end this journal and everyone will have to wait til my next run on sentence into the new one. Night all |

Well I'm here in Ft Dix and I have been here for 8 days now and man I miss Jen. Anyway, it started off pretty much on task so far with the improcessing and such yet the main issue i have which is pretty much normal for the guard is that things change on almost an hourly basis. We could be ready to go flying one minute and the next minute we have to haul ass to the range and qualify on some weapon. I'm not surprised though i'm just kind of going with the flow for now.
The weather has been great there were some hot days the first few days but the last four or five have benn wonderfully cool. I am not e-5 yet but hopefully that will change very soon for it would help Jen and I come time to pay some bills. Anyway, with what we have my spirits are still high, I have hit some bricks in the road here and there but I have been to overcome them.
Every Night before I go to bed and every morning I wake up Jen is always on my mind. Its not bad they are actually good thoughts like i can't wait to see her when i get back and how i miss some of the things she does with me (no comment :P). Anyway she is what will help me get through this in the end If I didn't have 100% of her support I would not be obviously 100% here either. This icture of her i played around with on photoshop an placed it on my desktop. She is even beautiful in a filtered black and white....*sighs*.

On another not My brother Ben is going to Ft Cambell to help the American Red Cross. To me he is setting the example in what our country should be doing. The fact that he is taking time away from his job to go help them is so honorable that he is the true American.
Anyway I am going to get ready to count some sheep but more news to come.
Good Journey to all.

| Woohooo I'm Married |
[Jun. 6th, 2005|10:09 pm] |
Well I just got married on May 23rd, 2005 to a wonderful lady. My first year is going to be a bit awkward for her since I'm being shipped away in a couple of months. Unfortunately she is going to have to deal with me being away..far...far away. She is strong and very fragile though and has her sister to look too if problems arise. Even though I will only be a phone call away and an e-mail away, it is going to be hard on us both. This will be my first real activation and it will be an obvious changing period for me.
And yes I have heard all the stories..I realize to some people your life is over when your married but that’s just because you are too lazy to make things better. ((Stretches a bit))
I have to say That our Honeymoon in Cancun was Da Bomb!...I really need to stop saying that...anyway There are some of the nicest people over there. Of course if you leave your resort into the downtown areas you increase your chances of being ripped off but ya just have to watch yourself.
We stayed at the Moon Palace Golf & Spa...I don't know how big a large resort normally is but this one was huge. It was 123 acres of resort...it was very open and right up against the Caribbean Sea. It had a sweet pool in the back just before you get to the Sea and that was basically a wading pool deep enough to swim in with swim up tiki bars and bridges that walked over the different pool shapes. There were 5 main restaurants where we were and the incredible thing is...is that there was a duplicate resort ((same resort)) right next door which was literally connected to ours. We didn't go over there much but they had different events at night going on over there as well. Supposedly they had the same amount of restaurants just different tastes. |

Well, it looks like i'll be heading over to the "theater" soon...unfortunately i had to cancel my wedding date and schedule an earlier one. I suppose it hasn't hit me yet but right now i feel fine. As long as I continue to get the support from those I love i'm pretty sure i will stay fine. The main thing that bothers me is that because my fiance and I had to move our wedding date, some of my relatives may not be able to make it. It is sad that they can't but it is understood and perhaps before I go to the "theater" I can see those who couldn't make it.
On another note...My Fiance and I purchased our first home and currently are saving to build one in the future...life moves really fast when your having fun..i just hope it moves even faster while i'm over seas so i can return home safely. |
